Hytale Update 7: "Chapter I: Out of the Breach" is live

On October 12, 2026 the Hytale team released "Chapter I: Out of the Breach". The hotfixes that followed are titled "Update 7", and the version numbers start with 0.7. Hytale is still in Early Access, and the game now reminds you of that on the main menu. The chapter begins at the Forgotten Temple: a new Goblin Lab unlocks the content, and according to the Hytale team this works in both new and existing saves.

What is new

• Goblin Breach: a temporary portal leads into an unstable fragment of Orbis that regenerates every time you enter. When time runs out, the Void pushes you back out. You earn extra time by fighting back the Void or by upgrading the Goblin Breach Console in the Goblin Lab.
• Guttering Hollows: the new biome, with predators you can track and trap, Void assassins, puzzles and treasure chests that trigger enemy waves.
• Deepworks: Hytale's first handcrafted dungeon, with hazards, puzzles and checkpoints. The Elite Goblin Feastmaster comes first, and the multi-phase Gobliterator waits at the end. An optional button by the boss chamber entrance enables a harder challenge.
• New gear: 7 tools and gadgets, including the Hookshot, Scrap Glider, Rocket Boots for a double jump and the Scrap Drill, which breaks a 2x2 area of blocks at once.
• Runestones: an ability system with 7 Ability Runestones and 8 Modifier Runestones. Each avatar can equip up to two abilities, and Mana regenerates on its own and is shown where the Stamina bar used to be.
• Minigames: Prop Hunt and Shuffle Jam with 12 microgames, which the post says arrive shortly after launch. You reach them through "Minigames" on the main menu.
• More choice: over 100 new cosmetic options plus French and Spanish language support.
• Mods: mods can now contain whole worlds.

There is plenty of balancing on top: health potions share a 15-second cooldown and stamina potions a 30-second one. Weapons and tools last much longer, an Adamantite pickaxe for example has 1000 durability instead of 400.

What this means for your server

Worlds upgrade automatically. According to the Hytale team, existing worlds upgrade themselves the first time they load, and upgraded worlds use less disk space. The Update 7 pre-release notes also state that a world loaded on the new version cannot be opened on an older one. A backup before updating is therefore a must, because it is your only way back.

Client and server have to match. According to the Hytale team, clients and servers must be on matching protocol versions. Update your server as soon as your players have updated their game.

Clean shutdowns. Servers now close connections cleanly when they shut down. Your players no longer have to wait for a timeout. A server freeze when several players joined at the same time is fixed as well.

View distance capped. Servers and worlds now start even if the saved view distance is too high. The value is capped at 32 chunks.

Rules apply immediately. Server rule changes take effect without players having to rejoin. Multiplayer sessions also prefer a direct route where one exists.

Changed commands. /portal can now be used instead of /fragment, and /leave is replaced by /portal leave. /worldevent toggles World Events, which are off by default in Creative worlds. Portal worlds inherit settings such as fall damage and PvP from the original world.

The hotfixes that followed

• 0.7.1 (October 13): fixes for joining, timeouts and reconnecting. Joining a world hosted on Windows no longer times out after 30 seconds. If a player's IP address changes mid-session, the server no longer rejects the reconnect with "already logged in".
• 0.7.2 (October 14): fixes a world crash with old goblin spawn beacons from Update 6 that disconnected every player, and a Linux crash with RocksDB chunk storage.
• 0.7.3 (October 21): fixes a crash from bad server packets, join hangs and lag spikes. Servers with 4, 6 or 7 processor threads use fewer threads for world generation, so exploring new terrain causes less lag there.

With 0.7.3 you can send error reports to your own Sentry project. Use the new SentryDsn key in config.json for that. If the key is unset, nothing changes, and a blank value turns error reporting off. Errors from third-party plugins also go to that project, such as plugin load failures.

Your update checklist

1. Back up your world before the server starts on the new version.
2. Check whether your mods and plugins have been updated for Update 7, and leave outdated ones out for now.
3. Update the server to the latest 0.7 version so it matches your players' protocol version.
4. Start the server and let the world load completely once so the upgrade can run.
5. Check the view distance and add SentryDsn to config.json if you need it.
