Soldat

Soldat is a 2D multiplayer shooter that pulls together ideas from Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike. You control a small soldier equipped with a jetpack and fight other players across side-scrolling arenas. The pace is high, and moving through the air is as much part of the craft as clean aiming.

Seven main modes are available: Deathmatch, Pointmatch, Teammatch, Rambomatch, Capture the Flag, Infiltration and Hold the Flag. On top of that come three sub-modes (Realistic, Survival and Advance) that noticeably change the rules again. Each mode calls for its own tactics.

More than 18 weapons and around 60 maps keep things varied, from firearms and grenades to melee. Soldat also supports user-generated content, so you can create and share your own maps, mods and scripts. The controls stay simple enough for newcomers to keep up quickly.
