Space Engineers is a sandbox space simulation built on physically plausible mechanics. You construct your own spacecraft, space stations and entire colonies, explore the solar system and mine asteroids for valuable resources. What counts most here is engineering skill and creativity.
In survival mode you start with little more than a simple station or a small ship. You mine resources, manage energy and expand your infrastructure step by step. Every construction needs planning: weight distribution and fuel consumption, protecting your station, automating machines. A miscalculation or an oxygen supply that is cut too fine can end an expedition abruptly.
If you would rather focus purely on building, creative mode lets you experiment without limits. That is where huge fleets, detailed space stations and complex machines that operate on their own take shape. The realistic physics makes every movement, every thruster and every gravitational effect feel comprehensible.
The universe is not empty, though. In multiplayer you build stations and trading fleets together with other players, or put your creations to the test in PvP battles using shields, weapons and well thought out defenses. Modding support adds new parts, extra features and your own scripts.
On your own Space Engineers server at EmeraldHost you decide which scenario runs: survival or creative, which mods and scripts are active, how many players can join and which world rules apply. The world persists, so big projects can grow across many sessions.
